Windows 7 Install Stuck At Setup Is Starting
When I try to install windows again it just hangs at the setup is starting screen indefinitely. Without a disk in the drive, it pops up BootMGR is. Oct 08, 2012 I have the same issue I am installing win 7 and it's stuck at the SETUP IS STARTING screen. I have reformatted my HDD and still nothing. I'm thinking it's the HDD because it may be old it had win xp on it and i was using it just fine no i'm trying to install win7. Set DVD drive first to boot, HD second, set SATA controller to AHCI, Save changes and Exit. Then boot into Windows 7 installer DVD or flash stick burned or written using tool and latest ISO for your licensed OS version here.
Hi, I am attempting to install windows 7 x64 onto my pc and it hangs at the 'Setup is Starting.' I waited for the screen to go away overnight but to no avail. My system's specs are: Phenom II x3 720 be MSI 790GX-G65 Motherboard with integrated video and the latest bios 2 Gigs of ram (going to expand to 6) 640 gig Seagate sata hard drive in IDE mode firewire and integrated audio have been disabled usb enabled but usb compatibility mode disabled no floppy drive and it has been disabled onboard lan has been disabled There was an instance where the installation got past that screen and asked me to choose a drive to install but none were selectable. I used seagates utility to set up the drive with ntfs but that didn't solve the issue.
Is there anything else that I should try? Years later, I looked up this issue and found this post.

This is how I fixed it with a similar setup.Here's how it was setup when it would freeze.New HDD hooked up-CDRW - MasterDVD ROM - SlaveI tried every BIOS switch and took memory sticks out. It did not run smooth until I switched the Master/Slave relationship on my cd rom drives.Once I switched my CDRW to SlaveDVD ROM to MasterThe installation ran flawless.Not sure how or why, that's above my understanding but just offering my experience of a days worth of troubleshooting between sleep and work.Cheers!

I run the test that was checking the both memory and HDD.was the startup test.Was passed.i also checked my laptop at the system engineer and he said that i have to replace the HDD because of some issues that he found with his super dooper software.he advised me to buy a brand new hdd.i ordered it on internet but i have some doubts cause why isnt it working with the other hdd that i tried it.I forgot to mention that this HDD was working on another laptop but mines.so i dont think that this is the problem.the hdd is over 120 $ and i dont want to buy it for nothing.what should i do?
