Skyrim Main Quest Or Civil War First
First of all, I started the Civil War quest before I finished the main story questline and after I was done with it, I went back to finish the civil war questline and mysteriously, the name has changed to '.' and the sole objective is 'Regain the pale.' I am unable to discern exactly what this wants me to do, it's a very broad objective and when I activate the quest, there is no quest marker. Do note that I have 109 or so mods installed, but none are very major, mainly small improvements, hence the bloated amount. Help would be much appreciated, this quest has just been sitting around while I've done almost everything else in the game. My game bugged out on Regain The Pale one time. I thought it was from CWO but I'm not sure.
How are the civil war and main quest linked? The legion quests seem to be aimed at low level characters, but while you're busy with that, dragons have fun devasting villages, farms and even whole forts. Should I now try to hurry the main quest? Is there evidence what is 'supposed' to be done first? Many thanks in advance.
When it happened, Ulfric was bugged too - you might check back with him. The only way I could progress it was using the CWO debug or force win the war. If it is a mod issue, you might not be able to fix it. I wasted hours trying to figure it out.Oh and you don't want to start CWO now - you want to install it on (edit) a NEW game (preferably vanilla install if you've been modding), in case you're wondering. Same thing happend to me. I finished the main story then went back to do the civil war as the stormcloaks and the quests name was. and I was able to do a couple quests then the quest markers started disappearing and when I had to go and talk to someone to advance in the quest the dialouge option would be missing.

So ive just been having to use console commands to advance the quest which worked for a while. But now I cant seem to advance any further beyond regain winterhold even using console commands I cant get any part of the quest to show up. It's never a good idea to start the Civil War and then go do the Main Quest and come back. Many quests get screwed up that way-Missing in Action comes to mind. Finish a questline, then start the next.
Events in the Main Questline can affect the War and vice versa. Events in the Dark Brotherhood questline can prevent you from finishing the Thieves Guild Questline-so always do the TG first.Since you did the Main Questline before finishing the War, you would have had to do the Peace Treaty to get Balgruuf to help you.
The holds you traded would affect the outcome of the war.Regaining the Pale is a general title for the things you must do to win the Pale back. Since you joined the Imperials I am not familiar with the specific events-I've always played as a Stormcloak. Usually it means speaking to the Leader-in this case, General Tullius, then meeting the commander in the field and getting your orders-Legate Rikka.
(If you want the same name for all ports in a trunk, you must individually assign the name to each port.).A friendly port name can have up to 64 contiguous alphanumeric characters.Blank spaces within friendly port names are not allowed, and if used, cause an invalid input error. Invalid trunk name entered key.
Then you take back a fort. In the Pale, this would be Fort Dunstad. The quest ID for this section of the Quest is CWFortSiegeFort.Move your character to the Fort.Open your console and type in SetStage CWFortSiegeFort 200.If that doesn't work try 9000 at the end of the line instead.I looked these up on The Elder Scrolls Wiki and, in case you need to do more research.Best of luck, Dragonfire. So ive just been having to use console commands to advance the quest which worked for a while. But now I cant seem to advance any further beyond regain winterhold even using console commands I cant get any part of the quest to show up.Using too many console commands eventually corrupts the game so that it is unplayable. If you can't fix it using one or two commands, then starting over is the only option. I've made a career of starting over! For everyone talking about the mod Civil War Overhaul please note:The mod itself MUST be installed on a new game. Not a clean game, not a game after character creation, a brand new, clean game, hitting new right off the menu with the mod installed, and it must never be uninstalledAs far as the bugs, this bug is actually a flat vanilla bug, and the author of CWO has actually tried to impliment a fix for this bug in CWO.
Do I have to say, 'spoilers follow' in a spoiler forum? Anyway:If you don't pick a side in the civil war, you will have an option to negotiate a truce during the MQ. If you have started the civil war (picked a side), you will lose the option to negotiate a truce during the MQ.Another point to consider, especially if you're a completionist-type, if you choose not to pick a side and complete the civil war questline, you will miss out on a word wall and a dragon claw, as these things are in a part of a dungeon that only becomes accessible during the civil war quest. Lastly, you will never be able to furnish and take ownership of the house in Windhelm, Hjerim, if you do not complete the civil war questline.Posts: 3430 Joined: Wed Jul 05, 2006 1:53 pm. Been a long time since I did either the MQ or the civil war questlines - but even on toons now who don't start any of that, I get the same dialog and commentary. The scripting's not real tight - I doubt you'll miss anything.
In my experience, the Thalmor don't do a lot of commenting on anything - other than if my toons don't get out of their faces they're going to kill them. Uh huh.Why do people keep using the word 'toon' like that, it makes me think of Who Framed Rodger Rabbit. Not that that's a bad thing, but still.Posts: 3433 Joined: Fri Sep 14, 2007 6:17 am. Suddenly I'm imagining my final battle in Sovengarde starting very differently.Aludin: Remember me Felldir? When I killed Hakon One-Eye, I talked JUST LIKE THIS!!!On topic, I did the main quest first because I felt dealing with the World Eater was a tiny bit more pressing than putting Ulfric in his place.Dem nostalgic nightmares man, but it was Golden-Hilt who was killed by Alduin. It seems the guild quests are ment to be attempted early, as they hand you gear related to their playstyle very early on, two cheap/free spells, some enchanted rings for enchanters, and a set of robes from the College, Skyforge Steel Armour from the Companions, and whatever the other two guilds give you.

Even the Imperial Legion gives you a free set of armour (yet no-one in the Legion sells any sort of Imperial gear except the bow).Posts: 3498 Joined: Sat May 12, 2007 1:04 am. I never heard the word 'toon' in that context before coming to this forum.
It's still wierd, most CRPGs are in the style of traditional animation.Well, if you play WoW, you'd recognize it. As to 'in the style of traditional animation'. I have NO idea what you're talking about. As to 'toon' - I'm told that it's short for 'cartoon', as the animated representation of 'you' in a given game. I preferred it always to the other form of reference, 'paper doll'.Posts: 3417 Joined: Tue Feb 27, 2007 8:35 pm. Well, if you play WoW, you'd recognize it. I preferred it always to the other form of reference, 'paper doll'.I don't see what's cartoonish about how characters appear in Skyrim or most other RPGs. 'Paper doll' really only refers to a little picture of your character in inventory screens, like in the other Elder Scrolls games. Also, your signature seems to just be a massive brag over how 'old-school' you are, or suggests you believe age gives your word weight. Quite a common belief in fandoms.Posts: 3497 Joined: Sat Jan 13, 2007 2:29 pmDisplay posts from previous: Sort.
