Half Life 2 Texture Mod

Half Life 2 Mods for Dummies is a great beginners guide for modding the Half Life 2 game. While the book focuses mainly on mapping, you learn how to create maps, make custom textures for your map and how to finish and pack up your map to show the world. I bought this book to expand my knowledge of Half Life 2 modding and I did learn some new stuff.

  1. Half-Life 2: Rise and Shinier. Our first stop was to pay a visit to the simply named 'Update' mod. Half-Life 2: Episodes One and Two provided a bit of a graphical upgrade over the original game.
  2. Half Life 2 HD Remastered texture pack V1.5 Release Feb 15 2019 News 2 comments. After months of silence, its finally here! After 3 months of stagnation and loss of interest, i finally returned back to HL2's modding community with.

I've made some upscaled model textures for Half-Life 2 using Topaz A.I Gigapixel and a little bit of photoshop. Here's some screenshots! Drag the slider in the middle to see the differences.I've upscaled every main character, every enemy and ally (alien and human), some weapons, some items and crates, and some vehicles. Also included are some textures for Episode One, Two, and the Lost Coast.

They can all just be installed in the same place. How to install: Extract the materials folder into the base Half-Life 2 directory (it should be steamappscommonHalf-Life 2). You'd need to decompile all the maps using BSPSource and opening them up one-by-one in Hammer Editor. Select all world geometry (including funcdetal, funclod and displacements too), click on the texture applicator tool, and change the XY scaling of the textures. By default it's 0.25, which means that they're scaled 0.25 of their original size, most environmental textures are 512x512 resolution. Let's say you want to bump this up to 1024x1024, you'd need to change the scaling to 0.125.

For 2048x2048, it's 0.0625 and so on. Once you're done with the changes you'll need to compile the maps.

Fallout 4 third person mod. If you got a CPU with a high core/thread count like 6/12 or 8/16, it shouldn't take too long in the case of HL2 maps. I recommend using Compile Pal 0.25 as it can take advantage more of your threads and the possibility of compiling multiple maps at the same time, use the 'Publish' preset to get the best looks and performance.

Best of luck with your project!. There might be an easier way by making a script that can modify the materials instead of trying to mess with the maps.Adding $basetexturetransform to the.vmt materials might allow you to resize the textures back 'down' to match what was first set in the map files. For example: $basetexturetransform 'center.5.5 scale 0.5 0.5 rotate 0 translate 0 0'.I haven't touched Source Engine in a long time, but this might be an easier way to get this to work as you won't have to modify any maps.

EP2 mostly draws from the base game textures. It has it's own textures too (a few of which I've upscaled) but I haven't swapped anything around because they're all very specifically designed for different points in the games. In the original game, character model textures were mostly unaltered in Episode 2 apart from Alyx who has some changes to reflect the story progression. Her EP2 textures have different names though, so I was able to upscale her different textures separately and they should only show up at the correct times.
