Two areas that come to mind for quick soul farming are the forest hunter's area in the Darkroot Garden and the Painted World of Ariamis.Darkroot Garden - Purchase the Crest of Artorias from the blacksmith in the Undead Parish for 20,000 souls (this initial investment can quickly be earned back). Next, go down to the forest from the undead parish and head toward the giant stone doors. Use the crest to unlock the doors.
In the next area are several NPCs each worth 1000 - 3000 souls. There is a bonfire hidden behind an illusion wall in the ruined structure just before the crest door. The 2 knights in heavy armor and the archer will not respawn but it is still worth it to farm the sorcerer, cleric, thief and bandit.
To use this method you must not be in the forest hunter's covenant.Painted World - Requires a bit more effort to get to but is a bit more efficient if I recall correctly. First you must return to the undead asylum by climbing to the crow's nest in Firelink.

In the asylum return to the cell you started the game in and retrieve the Peculiar Doll item. Next, go to the room with the giant painting and white robed enemies in Anor Londo. If you interact with the painting while you have the doll you will get transported to a new area. The new area contains the phalanx enemies (deformed enemies with spear and shield) that are easy to farm once the shortcut to the bonfire has been opened up. Once finished farming the only way to leave the area is by heading to the arena where Priscilla is and jumping off the ledge.
The phalanx enemies were the best farming in the game iirc. On NG you can get 10,080 souls from them with just the covetous silver serpent ring. I was able to cut down my farm time to under 1 minute on them using the great scythe and attacking them from behind.
Wide sweeping attacks are best for these guys so the zweihander, greatsword, and various halberds should work. If you have the symbol of avarice it brings up your souls earned to 13,000 which is the max efficiency you can get for them.–Aug 25 '14 at 17:49. I take it that you're building an Int build then.I myself have a dex build and have been farming in anor londo myself a lot by parrying silver knights.

After a few tries you get their patterns down and they yield a lot of souls. Because of the crit damage from the parry/riposte you get 20% extra souls.
Silver Knight (spear/sword): 1000 souls. Silver Knight (dragonslayer bow): 1300 souls. Silver Knight (spear/sword) Crit: 1200 souls. Silver Knight (dragonslayer bow) Crit: 1560 soulsI am not sure how well an int build can exploit this, but they are my primary source of souls.
Just a heads up: farming souls is going to make your soul memory increase, making summons and invasions much more difficult. Don't fret, though, as soul memory does not affect the online component in NG+ or above, just your soul level.1st Farming Area: Undead CryptIf you've been in Undead Crypt, you probably know about those annoying, respawing ghosts. And if you've played Dark Souls 2 at all, you're bound to know that enemies in the game despawn after they're killed a certain amount of time. The thing is, the ghosts will respawn infinitely. All that is required of you, is to ring one of the bells.
An undead will usually do it for you, but you can also do it yourself. Ringing a bell will make the ghosts spawn from their gravestones, to which you can then murder them and repeat the process. On new game, I was getting about a 1,000 souls for each kill. Just be careful not to destroy the gravestones, as that will prevent the ghosts from spawing.
Don't worry, though, as there is a bell you can ring on the path to the area boss, which will spawn ghosts from towers that can't be broken. The benefit to this farming technique is that you won't need to use any bonfire ascetics, allowing you to keep the game at the base level of difficulty (if you so desire). Here's a link to the that explains it better than I do.2nd Farming Area: Memories of the AncientsOh boy. This farming area is so good that it might be patched at some point. Essentially what you want to do is burn an ascetic on the 4th bonfire in the Forest of Fallen Giants. This will bring all the Giant memories into NG+ (and so on). Not only will this allow you to nab the following items: 2 Twinkling Titanite, 2 Bonfire Ascetics, 1 Soul Vessel, 1 Divine Blessing, 2 Fire Seeds, 5 Smooth $ Silky Stones, 1 Petrified Something, 3 Souls of a Great Hero, 3 Wilted Dusk Herbs, 3 Souls of a Hero - it will also allow you to fight the Giant Lord boss again.

Which if you tackle with a ranged character (which you can simply change to with a soul vessel, as you will have plenty left over), becomes very easy, as you can stand on the platform to the left and easily dodge his one ranged attack. Killing the boss will grant you a +2 Ring of Giants, a Giant Lord Soul, and 200-300k souls depending on how many bonfire ascetics you have burned. If you want a more detailed explanation, a reddit user created the.
